Energy Skills Training

Power Up North London ran two rounds of its foundation skills course Energise your Career: Home Energy Skills Training in July and October 2024.  The course was funded by the Euston Skills Centre (ESC) and UniSolar‘s Community Energy Fund.

We trained over 30 participants and informed them about the basics of home energy advice and to show them pathways into further training and jobs. The main focus was to attract local residents to support the “green skills” sector by providing them with a rich and engaging programme that would make energy advice work more accessible and show them some clear pathways to employment.Since the programme we have set up a Whatsapp group to support the participants by sign-posting suitable jobs and we plan to run a follow-up jobs-focussed event in the autumn that will include CV writing and a potential employers’ fair. The success of the pilot programme in 2024 has led us to plan on delivering further Energy Skills training sessions.
