Seeking Champions to Energise Barnet
In partnership with Finchley Foodbank and Barnet Council, we provide energy-saving advice to help residents stay warm and dry and to minimise their electricity and gas bills.
With fuel poverty on the rise, we want to reach more people. That's why we're excited to launch our new Energy Champion Network.
Tanuja, our Chief Executive: ‘We're looking to create a team of Energy Champions to become the go-to people in their neighbourhood. This is a great opportunity for Barnet residents, especially those connected with the Foodbank, to make a difference and learn valuable new skills.’
Powering up energy skills
We're running a free, hands-on Energy training course for up to 15 residents on 19 and 22 January 2026. Thanks to support from the employment and skills service, BOOST, the training will take place at Tarling Road, Community Hub. See flyer for details.
Across the two fun, interactive, multi-lingual sessions (10 am to 1.30 pm), aspiring Energy Champions will learn from expert trainers from Power Up North London, meet inspiring speakers and discover how to:
· cut energy waste and reduce bills
· keep homes warm, dry and healthy all year round
· support neighbours struggling with paying their energy bills
· find out more about further training and job opportunities
Everyone who completes the course will receive a £30 voucher.
Rachel, Manager at the Finchley Foodbank: ‘Our friends at Power Up North London have already made a big impact on our community. This new Energy Champion Network will help even more residents manage their bills and take practical steps to stay warm this winter. And, by supercharging their own skills, the training will open up opportunities for our new Energy Champions in the coming year.’
