Unlocking Community Energy at scale
News
12 November 2025
The complexity and inconsistency of the planning process are two of the barriers to scaling up community energy in North London.
That was the message from Tanuja, our Chief Executive, to the Energy Security and Net Zero Committee on 12 November.
Tanuja was called to give evidence as part of the government inquiry into community energy, which is at the heart of its ambitions for clean power by 2030.
The inquiry is exploring what’s getting in the way of significant growth in community energy and what needs to be done so it can realise its full potential.
Tanuja was speaking alongside Cllr Emily O’Brien (Climate Change Cabinet member at Lewes District Council) and Eleanor Radcliffe (Project Manager, Energy Commons Team at Carbon Co-op).
