What We Do
We have the expertise and models to evaluate and develop community-owned renewable energy solutions.
Our projects reduce running costs and carbon emissions and include energy efficiency reviews, installation of community solar PV, LED lighting, heat pumps and the like. We also deliver energy saving advice to local residents and are developing climate-based training packages with schools and a jobs-training programme with a local construction skills centre.
Our solar and heat projects cover all stages in the development and delivery of projects:
Solar
Over the past 10 years, Power Up North London has successfully delivered 13 community solar projects, helping to power our community with clean, cheaper renewable energy.
We offer flexible support depending on the needs of the site — from early-stage feasibility assessments to full project delivery, including:
Pre-feasibility and feasibility studies
Project management through to installation
Ongoing performance monitoring and maintenance
If funding is needed, PUNL can raise capital through a community share offer. In such cases, we enter into a legal agreement with the host site to use the roof space for a defined period.
Our aim is to make solar energy accessible, community-owned, and professionally managed — delivering long-term environmental and financial benefits.
Contact us if you’re interested in partnering on a solar project.
Heat
At Power Up North London, we’re committed to helping buildings reduce their reliance on fossil fuels for heating. Our heat decarbonisation support includes:
Assessing low-carbon heating options (e.g. heat pumps, insulation improvements)
Guiding sites through feasibility studies and funding opportunities
Supporting the design and implementation of low-carbon heating systems
Whether you're a school, community centre, or local organisation, we can help you understand your options, navigate the transition, and reduce your carbon footprint.
Want to see how we’re putting decarbonisation into action? Check out the Caxton House Community Centre project summary further down the page.

Energy advice
Struggling with your energy bills but not sure where to begin?
Get advice on your energy use and bills, plus support with your water bill and any discount schemes you may be eligible for. We can also refer you to any other services you may need, such as debt and benefits advice, and provide fuel vouchers. You may also be eligible for free energy saving items.
We're currently working in partnership with Finchley Foodbank, where we run regular drop-in sessions during Foodbank opening hours. We also offer 1-to-1 support sessions at the local library — available on request.
Training
PUNL offers a foundation skills course designed to prepare participants for jobs in the growing energy advice sector.
Our training typically runs over 2–3 days and equips trainees with the core knowledge needed to take the next step — such as completing the NEA Level 3 qualification to become a certified Energy Advisor.
So far in 2024, we’ve delivered two successful training sessions, supporting over 30 participants. These were generously funded by Unisolar and the Euston Skills Centre.
We continue to provide light-touch support to our trainees, helping them explore paid work opportunities in the energy advice space.
